Could you please share this journal, or my DonersChoose project page found here, with your watchers? I am trying to raise money for a classroom rug through DonorsChoose.org. My students and I would really appreciate the few moments it would take to do this.
My classroom is a really busy place with 130 low-income Kindergartners coming to me for Math every day!
With such a large number of children coming into my class I have be extremely well-organized and efficient. The rug I chose is great for a lot of reasons:
1) Transitions -- This rug will allow my students to transition easily from one activity to another. I break my lessons into three parts: Whole-group instruction, small-group application, and sharing/cleanup time. Each of my students will know exactly where to go and sit during transitions.
2) It's not just a rug. It's a game board! -- I love to create games and activities that allow my students to experience learning. We might play a class-sized game of Memory or use it to learn how to skip count by actually skipping! There are so many possibilities with this rug.
3) Quality - If it is going into my classroom it has to hold up to a lot of wear and tear! I have researched this particular rug on other websites and the reviews are great! It is sturdy and durable.
With a lot of creativity and ingenuity this rug is going to be a lot more to my students than a place to sit.
Thanks so much!
Oh, and until April 4th, when someone donates to the project and enters the code INSPIRE, DonorsChoose.org will match their donation dollar for dollar.
